Her husband was the first school teacher at the True School in Young County. Bertha Leberman was a pupil in the school that her husband taught. The couple moved to Meers, Oklahoma in 1945 to be near a son.
She and her husband attended the True Homecomings every year.
They were the parents of six children, five were alive at the time of her death: three sons - Walton of Olney, John A. and Marlin Keathley of Lawton, OK; two daughters - Mrs. Herschell Orr and Mrs. A. Davarsel, both of Los Angeles, CA.
One son, Sgt. George D. Keathley, was killed during World War II and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
