Atlanta - Clyde Edenfield, 100 years of age, and a much loved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died peacefully at his home in Sandy Springs on Monday, March 10, 2003. Born on March 26, 1902 in Bulloch County, he was one of eleven children born to John Calhoun Edenfield and Lucy Parrish Edenfield. A long-time resident of Claxton, he retired from the Postal Service in 1970 and embarked on a second career in farming. In 1984, he retired again and moved to Sandy Springs. Clyde was a good cook and delighted in cooking pancakes for his grandchildren, and fish and hush puppies for his family and many friends.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Myrtle Tippins Edenfield, his second wife, Ruby Smith Edenfield, and his daughter Judith Edenfield Tucker. Survivors, who will cherish wonderful memories of a dearly loved gentleman: his wife, Gladys Truett Edenfield; son and daughter-in-law, James C. and Norma T. Edenfield; son-in-law, Charles Tucker; grandson, J. Michael Edenfield, granddaughters, Lisa Edenfield Harwood, Elaine Edenfield, Donna Tucker OMalley and Denise Tucker Crews; brother, Hubert Edenfield; sisters-in-law, Ora-Lee Edenfield and Irene Edenfield; seven great-grandchildren, and nineteen nieces and nephews. Visitation: 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Thursday at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home in Claxton. A celebration of Clydes wonderful life will be held Thursday, March 13, 2003, 1:00 P.M. at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial: Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Evans County. Remembrances: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Womens Auxiliary of Piedmont Hospital for "sixty plus older adult services", 1968 Peachtree Road, NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30309.
