Wallace— James O. Ward, 78, died here on Monday. Funeral services were held In the Baptist church of which he was a senior deacon, with the Rev. J. E. Lanier, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. W. P. M Currie of the Presbyterian church. Burial was in Rockfish Cemetery.
Mr. Ward, who was a native of Gates County but who had lived here for the past 25 years, had been in declining health for several year. Surviving are one son, O. H. Ward of Proctor, Ark.; and five daughters, Miss Pearl Ward, Mrs. Virgilia Wells, Mrs. E. Y. Boney, and Mrs. Donnie Powell, all of Wallace, and Miss Esther Ward, Baptist Orphanage, Thomasville. Four brothers also survive, A. D. Ward, Burgaw, A. E. Ward, Junaluska, H. S. Ward Washington, N. C. and V. L. Ward, Tampa, Fla.
