Raymond Lester Means of Highland, born in Bowling, Illinois, had been a resident of Highland for three years, died Tuesday, April 8, 1980 in San Bernardino at the age of 77. Before he retired, he was a machinist for 31 years for a caterpiller tractor company in Peoria, Illinois. He was a member of the Del Rosa Heights Baptist Church, the International Order of Odd Fellows No. 290 and the Arrowhead Chapter of Rebekah Lodge No. 410. He was survived by his wife, Irene, a daughter, Donna J. Berger of San Bernardino, three sisters, Caroline Messing of Shelby, Nebraska, Ruth Shahwan of Moline, Illinois and Eunice Rasmussen of Geneso, Illinois, four grand children and four great-grand-children. Graveside service are set for 1 p.m. on Friday in Montecito Memorial Park with Bobbitt Memorial Chapel in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Del Rosa Heights Baptist Church.
