ALBANY--The wife of an Indiana state policeman was rushed to Ball Memorial Hospital Wednesday night after apparently shooting herself at her rural Albany residence.
Carol Haisley, 40, wife of trooper William Haisley, was being treated in the emergency room shortly before midnight. There was no immediate word on Mrs. Haisley's condition, but she was expected to undergo surgery late Wednesday.
She was brought to the hospital by the Emergency Medical Service about 11:30 p.m.
Indiana State Police are in charge of the investigation, but troopers would give no official word on the nature of the shooting or whether it was accidental.
Delaware County Sheriff Gary Carmichael, who was at the hospital, said the shooting apparently was an attempted suicide.
