Opal Rachel Shawn was born on 16 December 1922 to William Edgar "Ed" Shawn and Effie Lee KING (Sims) Shawn, in Stephens County, Oklahoma. There were five half brothers and sisters in her family when she was born. They were Cecil, Walter, Eva Lee, Thelma and Ruby Sims (Children of Arthur Sims). Later there would be two more siblings, Audy and Corine Shawn added to the family.
Opal married Roger Z. Tucker, who died in September 1973. Her second husband was Joseph "Joe" Vculek, who died 25 October 2003. Opal was survived by a son and grandchildren.
