Audy R. Shawn was born on 27 May 1926, in Comanche County, Oklahoma, to William Edgar "Ed" and Effie Lee King SHAWN.
Their were two siblings in the home plus two half-brothers and three half-sisters.

Effie Lee King was first married to Arthur Sims and there were born five childen of their union. Audie's five half-siblings were Cecil, Walter, Eva Lee, Thelma and Ruby Sims.
At the death of Arthur Sims, Effie married William Edgar "Ed" Shawn on 22 September 1920 in Duncan, Stephens County, Oklahoma. There were two daughters and one son born of this union. Audie's sisters were Corine E., and Opal Rachel (Tucker, Vculek).

It is not known when the family moved to Oregon, whether it was before or after the death of Effie Lee Shawn. She died in 1931 and is buried in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery, Duncan, Stephens County, Oklahoma.

Audy R. Shawn joined the army during World War II from Oregon. He was killed on 26 April 1945 somewhere in Germany. The information in his file at the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson contained the following information:
"Killed in Germany during World War II. Removed from Overseas Cemetery 3574, Plot AA, Row 32 or 90 D Burial Overseas in 1949 and buried in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Serial Number 39471768-Oregon."
