Henry E. Brandli
Henry "Bill" E. Brandli, 88, died Tuesday, May 2, 2006. He was a resident of Fairhope and Arlington, Vt., and a native of Meridian, Miss.
Brandli attended schools in Forest Hill, N.Y., Lake Placid, N.Y., Stephens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J., and Parks Air College in Illinois. He had dual memberships in the Federated Church of E. Arlington, Vt., and Trinity Presbyterian Church of Fairhope.
He was a self-employed petroleum products broker and was resident manager of the Henry Hudson Hotel in New York City, after which he bought and ran the Coosa Valley Telephone Co. in Pell City, Ala., for more than 25 years.
Brandli served more than five years in the armed forces and after Dec. 7, 1941, was commissioned as a second lieutenant. He served in the Pacific, serving part of the time as a member of Gen. Douglas MacArthur's staff in Brisbane, Australia.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Zimmerman Hulet; a daughter, Jacquelyn Cummins of South Carolina; two stepchildren, Hal Zimmerman of Fairhope and Janice Redelberger of Missouri; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Fairhope.
A visitation will be held after the service in the church fellowship hall.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Federated Church in E. Arlington, Vt., or the Trinity Presbyterian Church.
