J.M. Jeffreys

John M. Jeffreys, 85, Town Creek, Rt. 1, died at Colbert County Hospital Monday at 2:30.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Lawrence County, a retired farmer and a member and deacon of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 56 years.

Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Mt. Zion Baptist Church by Rev. Lowell Springer, assisted by Rev. J.B. Parker. Burial will be in hardshell Cemetery, Spry of Sheffield directing. The body will be at the residence until service time.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Belle Zora Jeffreys, Town Creek, Rt. 1; three sons, Edward, Horace, Clarence, Town Creek; five daughters, Mrs. Annis Dawson, Mrs. Inos Lowery, Mrs. Lassie Dawson, Miss Earline Jeffreys, Miss Eula Mae Jeffreys, all of Town Creek; 31 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Masterson, Mrs. Elizabeth Parvin, Town Creek; nieces and nephews.

Bearers will by Hylman Lowery, Junior Jeffreys, Charles Jeffreys, Willard Dawson, R.N. Dawson, Melton Jeffreys.
