Sgt. John Douglas Walsworth was killed in action in New Guinea on June 6, according to a message from the U. S. War Department received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Walsworth Wednesday of this week.

Sgt. Walsworth entered the service October 8, 1941 and was in the infantry and after almost two years of training in camps in the United States he was sent overseas in September 1943 and stationed in the South Pacific. He was a graduate of the Winnfield High School and prior to his enlistment was employed in the dispatching office of the Tremont and Gulf Railway Company here.

Surviving him are his wife, the former Miss Morean Moorehead, who now resides in Shreveport, his parents, Deputy Sheriff and Mrs. G. M. Walsworth, one sister, Ella Jean Walsworth of Winnfield, two brothers, First Lieutenant Miley A. Walsworth, a paratrooper stationed in England and Sgt. Lamar Walsworth, Philadelphia, Pa.; one aunt, Mrs. A. E. Raywinkle, Shreveport, three uncles,
Sheriff Bryant Sholars and C. F. Walsworth, clerk of court, both of Winnfield, and Louis Sholars, S-2/c, serving with the U. S. Coast Guard, Mobile, Ala.
