Leroy I. Tracy was the son of Paul Vincent Tracy and Jennie Mabel Kinnaman. He served with the U.S. Army in the 112th Cavalry Regiment.

The audacious 112th Calvary Regiment made dangerous, amphibian landings in New Guinea in December 1943. After linking up with the 1st Marine Division, the 112th was assigned to the 32nd Infantry Division in Aitape Papua New Guinea. The regiment fought in the Battle of Driniumor River for 51 days taking 62% casualties. This is where Leroy gave his life for his country.
