This is Mrs. Calvert Vaux, the architect of Central Park. She is also the sister of American Landscape Painter, Jervis McEntee, who lies near her.

OBITUARY

"The remains of Mrs. Calvert Vaux, who received fatal injuries from being thrown out of a wagon at Closter, on Wednesday last, were taken to Kingston, N.Y., over the West Shore road on Monday afternoon, and, after a brief burial service, they were interred in Mount Repose Cemetery, near that city.

Mrs. Vaux was born on January 25, 1830, in Roundout, and was a schoolmate of 'Squire Dubois, ex-judge Lawton, John Stratton, and other of the older residents. In her younger days, she also taught school, and, many of her pupils in the old Village Hall still survive. She became the wife of Calvert Vaux, the landscape architect of New York City, in 1852, and, her husband became famous for his work, in conjunction with Frederick Law Olmstead, for making the plan, and supervising the laying out of Central Park in New York, Prospect Park in Brooklyn, South Park in Chicago, and, the Buffalo Park".
