Lavina "Vinie" Lunsford Palmer (1823-1923) . At the age of 10, Vinie witnesses the Lenoid Meteor Shower of November 13, 1833, the most brilliant meteor shower ever recorded. Her witness of this phenomenon was passed down to the present generation by her grandchildren who describe it, "When Grandma was a young girl, she saw the stars fall from Heaven!"

Vinea Palmer's death certificate states she was 100 years and 4 months old and her death date is listed as June 1, 1923, it list the cause as "just old age". The NC Death Collection list death date as June 18, 1923.
