Gottlieb R. Berger, 88, former Murray mayor, died Dec. 14 of natural causes at his home.
Mr. Berger served as mayor of Murray from 1933 to 1940. He was retired as a foreman at the American Smelting and Refining Co., and was a member of Eagles Lodge 1760.
Born Oct. 3 1885, in Murray, he was a son of Gottlieb and Emma Arnold Berger. On Mar. 15, 1916 he married Anna Marie Mall in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Berger died June 16, 1969.
Survivors include a son and three daughters, William H. Midvale; Mrs. Robert (Marguerite) DeGrechie, Murray; Mrs. Jack (Mary) Burrell, Mrs. Calvin (June) Shaw, Portland, Ore., 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, and a brother, C. E. Berger, Murray.
