It is believed he was born in South Carolina. Married January 21, 1825, Wayne Co., In., Catherine Deter. In 1829 Joshua purchsed land in Randolph Co., In. on the North edge of Deerfield and bought more land 1833 - 1837. Parents of seven known children, Charles, John, Samuel, Joshua Jr., Henry, Nancy and a Infant child that died, by April 1851 had moved to Hartford Twp, Adams Co., In. acquired several acres of land near Domestic, a virgin forest at that time, which required may hours of hard work clearing the land to make it productive. February 25, 1863 deeded land to Hartford Township, Adams Co. for a burial ground which was called Alberson Cemetery.
