Cpl Alan Beachler enlisted in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on 12 August 1942.

He received his basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Corp Beachler married Esther M. Hass in 1941 but they were divorced in 1944. They had one son Larry Thomas Beachler. Both his parents were deceased at the time of his death.

He was a corporal with the 8th Armored Division when he was Killed in Action.

At about 10.00 o'clock, 5 March 1945, B Company, 36th Tank Bn., Captain Kelly commanding, was ordered to proceed from its position, just west of Lintfort, through Lintfort east and thence northeast to attack Rheinberg.
