Cleat and Gladys were married in 1957 according to their marriage certificate. Picture is Uncle Cleat and his sister Lula Owens Black. Lula is my grandmother.

Cleat I. owens 81 R.R. 1, Westport, died 1:35 p.m. Saturday, Jan 3 1987 in the 100 F in Greensburg.

A lifetime resident of Decatur County, he was born 16 June 1905 near Letts, the son of Alfred A. and Luara A. Voiles Owens. He attended Rodney Baptist Church. On June 28, 1958 he married Gladys Mae Blair in Letts, and she preceded him in death Jan. 22 1975.

He is survived by five neices, Mrs. Jon (Marilyn) Oldham, and Mrs. Terry (Ethel) M. Hitchel, both of Westport, Mrs. Dorothy Colsher, Greensburg, Mrs. Rosezetta Schlechtweg, Fountaintown, and Mrs. William (Lula Margaret) Schlechtweg, Heber Springs, Arkansas; two nephews, Alan Black, Modesto, California and Norman D. Black, Sartansburg, North Carolina, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lula Black, who died April 19, 1983.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Bass Funeral Home in Westport, with the Rev. Ted miller officiating. Burial will be in the Mapleton Cemetery north of Westport.

Uncle Cleat is buried next to his parents. Cleat is listed as Cleat Irvin Owens in his mother's funeral home papers. Also his father's name is Alfred and not Alford Owens.

Cleat Married Gladys Mae Profit June 12, 1957 Decatur County Indiana daughter of Ace Blair and Clyde Crump. This is her fourth marriage.

His marriage says he married Gladys Mae Profit on June 28, 1957 also gives his middle name as Ivan. The funeral home papers says Irvin Owens. My mother has the papers. Gladys parents are Ace Blair and Clyde Crump Blair.
