Dennis was one of 8 sons of Joseph and Mary Clarke Crandall. He was wounded twice and then imprisioned during the first battle of Bull Run. All of his brothers were also Civil War Union veterans, except one ; including Nelson who died at the battle of Chickamauga Ga , Arthur who served in the 4th Mn Infantry, Harrison who served in the 11th Mn,and in the 1st MN Cal "Mounted Rangers " Wiliam who served in the 2nd Mn, Marion who was in the 11th Mn and Rodolph who served in the 5th IA calvary. The brother who did not serve, Levi, was injured as a child in a fall and had a limp. Dennis had a sister, Lydia, who is my ancestress. I am proud and happy to manage his memorial.
