Parents: Horace Elon Armstrong and Eva Wright Armstrong. Horace died in Mulino, Oregon on the farm he and his wife had. Eva died in Pasadena, Calif. She'd been living with their son Dwight and son Herbert W. Armstrong lived nearby. Herbert's memorial is 8359. His son Garner Ted Armstrong's memorial is 7871155.

Russell came West as a young boy with his parents and siblings.

Russell and Hazel were married 19 April 1924 in Vancouver, WA.

A long-time Portland resident, Russell M. Armstrong, died Thursday [Nov. 23, 1978] in a Clackamas hospital [Kaiser].

He was born Jan. 26, 1900 in Des Moines, Iowa. He worked for Portland Gas & Coke Co. from 1917-1944 and was a sergeant in Civil Defense during World War II. He also had worked at Division Hardware Store, owned Armstrong Floor Finishing Company and was a partner in Salem Hardware Store.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel; two sons, Robert M. of Sandy, Oregon and Theodore R. of Boring, Oregon; one daughter, Patricia M. Green of Gresham, Oregon; one sister, Mary L. Edmundson of Portland; two brothers, Herbert W. Armstrong of Tucson, AZ and Dwight L. Armstrong, Sequim, WA; and eight grandchildren.

Private committal was on Nov. 28, 1978 at Lincoln Memorial Park, Portland, Oregon, with Rev. Glen Armstrong (a cousin) officiating.
