Hazel worked as a beautician for Arnold's Beauty Shop in Portland until she retired.

Gresham resident Hazel L. armstrong, 90 died, Thursday, Sept. 16, at a local hospital.
She was born in Portland to Fred and Florence Rose. She married Russell Milton Armstrong in 1924. During World War II, she worked at the Ironfireman Co. and later for the Ben Mars Shirt Factory. She returned to school and then as a beautician for Arnold's Beauty Shop for 30 years. She lived in Portland all her life until moving to Gresham in 1996 to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978. Survivors include her sons, Robert Armstrong of Clackamas and Ted Armstrong of Lincoln City; daughter, Patricia Green of Gresham; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A private family service was held Saturday, Sept. 18.

During World War II, she worked at the Iron Fireman Co. For more than 30 years, she worked as a beautician at Arnold's Beauty Shop in northeast Portland, now called Broadway Hair & Tan. In 1924, she married Russell Maxwell Armstrong; he died in 1978.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Armstrong of Clackamas and Ted Armstrong of Lincoln City; daughter, Patricia Green of Gresham; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Disposition was by cremation.
