Willet Samuel Barnes was the son of John J Barnes 1835 and Juliette Gardner. Willet was named after Willet S Cottrell, who married Prudence West Gardner, the sister of Juliette Gardner, and who died in the Civil War.

His parents moved from Alden, Erie, New York to Cherry Creek, Chautaugua, New York, where Juliette's parents lived.

On November 23, 1879 he married Mary L Wilson, in Independence, Allegany County, New York.

The couple lived with Willet's uncle Rosswell Barnes in Alleghany, Potter County, Pennsylvania. There one child, Ethel M was born in 1882.

Apparently, by 1887, the couple moved to Willing, Allegany County, New York. There they had two more children, Edith J 1887 and Willet Erastus 1890.

Willet S died in 1890. Later Mary remarried John Jenison. She continued to raise the children Edith and Willett. She died in 1919, and is buried as Mary L Jenison in this cemetery.

Ethel M Barnes 1882, married Harry L Graves in Willing, lived in Boston, Erie County, New York. Two children.

Edith J Barnes 1887, married Clair Dexter Jones, lived in Independence, Allegany County, New York.

Willet Erastus Barnes 1890, married Mary Sophrona Hunt, lived in Willing, Allegany County, New York. Four children.
