Lucy Permelia Beers was born March 31, 1855 in Winnebago county, Illinois, ear the city of Rockford. She moved with her parents to Wisconsin, when she was quite small, but returned to Illinois when ten years old. She attended the Rockford City schools and became a member of the Methodist church of that place.

March 31, 1874, she was married to Henry Thompson and in February, 1879, they came to Fairmont, where through the years Mrs. Thompson has made many friends. She is survived by her husband and only child, Mrs. Willard (Lillian) Goodrich of Fairmont, and four sisters, Mrs. Olive Hines of Butte , Montana; Mrs. A.H. Ufford of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Mrs. David Ralston of Neosha Falls, Kansas; Mrs. Mathew Campbell of Nelson, Nebraska.

For some time Mrs. Thompson has been in failing health and on Monday, March 11, she quietly slipped away to another and better world.

Many friends gathered on Wednesday at the Presbyterian church, where the funeral services ere conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.P. Hansen and interment followed in the Fairmont cemetery. R.G. Beers of Syracuse, Neb., a brother of Mrs. Thompson, and Frank Beers of Hastings, Neb., a nephew, were present at the funeral.
