Viola A. Schmidt, 91 of Waseca, formerly of Janesville, died on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca, following a lengthy illness.

Viola Anna was born on May 17, 1917, in Buse Township in Otter Tail County, to William and Mary (Rust) Neumann.

She attended Fergus Falls District 30 country school.

On Aug. 31, 1939, she married Edward Henry Schmidt at First Evangelical and Reformed Church in Fergus Falls.

Over the years Vi and Ed lived in various communities including Fergus Falls, Crystal, Janesville, and the last seven years in Waseca.

While in Crystal, Vi worked in housekeeping at North Memorial Hospital. She was an active mother, homemaker and church volunteer in all of the communities they lived.

Currently Vi had been a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca.

Vi and Ed enjoyed their many travels and cruises with friends, and she loved her flowers and embroidery.

She is survived by her husband Edward; daughters, Donna and Richard Fisher of Rapid City, S.D.; and two sons, John Fisher Clark and his wife, Lt. Genevieve M. Fisher Clark USN CHC, of Lakehurst, N.J., and Robert Fisher of Post Falls, Idaho; Darlene "Duff" and Donald Schuldt of Elysian, and their children, Tanner Schuldt, McKenzie and Jay Mulder, Marne Schuldt and fiancé Justin Slack of Owatonna; and foster son, John More of Sioux Falls, S.D.; great-grandchildren Lanaye and Scott Ross, Alexandria Ham and Peyton Schuldt; and special friends Wayne and Connie Baumgartner of St. Peter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and parents-in-law; five brothers Arnold and his wife Goldie, Werner and his wife Margaret, Emil, Elmer and Ervin; and by three brothers-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to ISJ Hospice.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at church

Service: 11 a.m. today, at Faith United Methodist Church, Waseca
