DEATH OF MRS. A. ZANE - WIDOW OF IMPLIMENT DEALER SUCCUMBS AT 79
Funeral for long-time resident of Carthage will be Friday afternoon.
Mrs. Mary J. Zane, 79 years old, widow of Andrew Zane, and a resident of Carthage more than 50 years, died at 6:10 o'clock last night at the state hospital in Nevada following an illness.
Mr. and Mrs. Zane came to Carthage immediately following their marriage on March 16, 1873 in Illinois. Mr. Zane who was in implement business here, died several years ago.
Mrs. Zane was born on January 8, 1850, in Pleasant Plains, Illinois. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Surviving are a son Arthur Zane, of Stillwater Oklahoma, a brother, Will Hamilton, of Pleasant Plains, Illinois, and five sisters, Mrs. Kate Chappell of Prescott, Arizona;
Mrs. Clara Cokner of Albia, Iowa; Mrs. Fannie Weir, Mrs. Emma Ayers and Mrs. Corbie Arnold, all of Pleasant Plains Illinois. Four grandchildren also survive. Mrs. George Esterly of Carthage is a granddaughter. Samuel Zane is a nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o' clock Friday afternoon at the Knell service home. The Rev. Frank H. Elbright, Pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church, will be in charge. Burial will be in Fasken Cemetery.
