FORMER CARTHAGE RESIDENT LONG IN ILL HEALTH

Services Will Be Tomorrow Afternoon at Sarcoxie - Four Children Survive


Arthur Zane, former well-known Carthage resident, died yesterday afternoon in the Jasper county tuberculosis hospital in Webb City, MO. He was about 68.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon at the Englage Funeral Home in Sarcoxie. Burial will be in the Zane family lot in Fasken Cemetery, northeast of Carthage.
Arthur Zane was born near Carthage, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Zane. the father was engaged in the implement business in Carthage.
Arthur grew up here and for many years was amember of the post office staff, serving as clerk at the general delivery window. He quit the postal service about 20 years ago and went to Oklahoma City. He long had been in failing health and last summer went to Sarcoxie to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. George Esterly and her family. He entered the county tuberculosis hospital two months ago.
Mr. Zane's wife, the former Lulu Kilgore, member of a prominent early-day Carthage family, died many years ago.
Survivors are the daughter, Mrs. Esterly and three sons,
Ensign William B. Zane, now reported in England
Robert Andrew Zane of San Diego, California and
Sergeant David Zane, army air force, stationed at Biloxi, Mississippi.
David arrived yesterday, called by the critical condition of his father. Sam Zane is a cousin.
Arthur Zane was a member of the First Methodist Church of Carthage.
