Mary L. Freeman was born November 25, 1850, in Wisconsin and passed away at her home near Springview, February 20, 1924, being seventy-three years old.
She moved with her parents when two years of age to Galesburg, Illinois where the family resided until she was twelve years old, when they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska at which place she spent the remainder of her girlhood. November 23, 1881, deceased was united in marriage to I.N. Darnell. To this union was born four children, Sylvia Wentworth of Riverview, Philo of Blackfoot, Idaho, Mary, who resides at home and Ethel who died when two years of age. Besides her imemdiate family Mrs. Darnell leaves a sister, Mrs. Sophia Freeman of Jacksonville, Florida and five grandchildren.
In 1883, Mrs. Darnell, together with her husband came to Keya Paha County, and she has been a continuous resident here through all the years of pioneering, doing her full share toward the upbuilding of the new country by bringing her children up to be conscientious and worthy citizens and caring in a gentle Christian way for the family home. Deceased united with the Baptist Church when about twenty years of age and was firm believer in her Savior throughout her entire life, putting all her trust in him even in her last sickeness.
Many friends of the family are extending sympathy to the stricken members in this hour of trial.
