James A. Boyd was married 3 times. First marriage was to Jane E. (maiden name unknown) about 1860. They had several children together. After Jane's death, James A. Boyd married Arminta Sophronia "Mintie" Burch on January 18, 1874 in Gordon Co., Georgia. They also had children together. The family moved to Texas where Mintie died in 1904. James A. Boyd then married Mintie's younger sister, Eliza A. "L. A." Burch on January 22, 1905 in Henderson Co., Texas. They had no children together. Arminta & Eliza Burch were the daughters of Archibald Burch and Margaret Whitefield.

James A Boyd served as a Private in the Civil War (CSA) and enlisted 12/5/1862 and discharged 1865. Head stone was shipped to J.C Boyd 11/2/1939. Info based on US Headstone Application for Military Veterans.
