Genevieve died at Misericordia Hospital of burns she experienced at her home in Philadelphia, PA. Genevieve had moved to Philadelphia when her husband was transferred for his job. Her mother went to Philadelphia from Omaha by train and was with her daughter when she died. Her mother returned with the body for burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Per her death certificate, Genevieve's death date is May 9, 1925, not the 1924 date indicated on her headstone. The 1924 date is the death date of her daughter, Patsy Mae Kirkland, who we believe was exhumed and buried with her mother.
