Oscar C. Truex 89, passed away under the care of Hospice Family Care on Wednesday, February 17th, 2010.

He was born in Harlingen, Texas on October 4th, 1920. He served in the Army Air Corp in WW II and came to Arizona to recover his health at the Tucson Veterans Hospital in 1947. He used his VA education benefit to join the carpenters apprenticeship program and became a journeyman carpenter. He was proud to be a "Union" carpenter.

Oscar loved helping his family, his church and his friends, but hunting and fishing were his passion. He was still fishing into his 80's. Oscar and Ann retired in 1977 and made many friends traveling all over the US and Canada. They were camp hosts at Hawley Lake Campground, AZ for 15 years.

He is survived by Ann, his wife of 65 years; son, Richard Truex (Barbara) of Tucson, AZ; daughters, Lynn Stimson of Brenda, AZ and Chris Brummett (Tom) of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Krista Baughman (Mike), of North Carolina, Tom Brummett (Ingrid) of Florida, and Ian Truex of Tucson, AZ; and two great-grandchildren, Devyn and Jackson Brummett. He will be dearly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 27th, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, 915 East Fourth Street, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Alzheimer's Research or The Kidney Foundation.
