Catherine, daughter of Daniel Stogsdill, was the 2nd wife and widow of Moses Keeney. Born in Pulaski County, Kentucky, November 4th 1804, she died at the home of son-in-law Gilbright Mathis, located on Spring Creek near Edgar Springs, in Phelps County Missouri. She passed away on January 13th at 10:35 PM at the exceptional age of 96 years, 2 mos, & 9 days, predeceased by her husband, Moses, by more than 50 years.
Catherine and Moses, were blessed with (6) Children: Rebecca Evans, Sally Mathis, Gideon Keeney, Polly Hargis wife of Dow, Peggy (Margaret)Keeney and Daniel Keeney. The only (2) surviving children are daughters Rebecca and Sally.
Her Grand-children number (39) of which (32) are still living; plus, there are more than(50) Great-Grand-children.
Catherine is also survived by (2) sisters: Sabra, widow of Ben Fore, Betsy (Elizabeth), widow of Abner Keeney and (1) brother: Bufford Stogsdill.
A Funeral discourse from Luke 2x29 was delivered at the Smith Cemetery on Wednesday January 16th 1901, at 2:00 PM. The Following Hymns were a part of the ceremony: "There's a land that is fairer than day; My Heavenly home is bright and Fair; and The bason where I oft have Lain."
Catherine was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.
