Haskell E. "Hack" Smith, 61, of Springfield died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at St. John's Hospice.
He was born March 16, 1940, in Glasgow, Ky., the son of John and Ruby Chapman Smith. He married Dorothy Guernsey in 1961.
Mr. Smith was a mechanic at Certified Tank and Equipment for 25 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1957-61. He was a member of Bunn Park Christian Church.
Survivors: wife, Dorothy J.; two daughters, Suellen Troxell of Petersburg and Sheryl (husband, Buddy) Nizzio of Springfield; eight grandchildren; mother, Ruby Foster of Girard; a sister, Sharon (husband, Frank) Mendoza of Girard; three brothers, Leland (wife, Anna Mae) Smith of Divernon, Aubrey (wife, Pat) Smith of Taylorville and Mitchell (wife, MaryAnn) Smith of Girard; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Staab Funeral Home, the Rev. Bob Ernst officiating. Burial: Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
