"The LaFayette Sun" - August 13, 1924:

In Memory of Eugenia Elizabeth Wilkerson.

On July 14, 1924, the death angel came into our home and bore away the sweet spirit of our darling little baby, Elizabeth. She was one year, one month and 22 days old.

Dear little one, you fell asleep
And left us all to mourn and weep,
Your eyes were closed by a tender hand,
To open again in that better land.
We again hope to meet you,
When the days of life are fled.
Where no farewell tears are shed.

Written by her Mother.

AND.....

Obituary.

Little Eugenia Elizabeth Wilkerson was born May 22, 1923, and died July 14, 1924. She was the baby daughter of Lewis and Mayme Wilkerson. She was only sick a few days, but her suffering was intense. She was a beautiful child, fair skin, light curly hair and blue eyes, the most quiet baby I ever saw, was always ready to smile and be contented anywhere. She leaves two sweet little sisters, mamma and papa to mourn her departure, and home seems empty without their darling. Life now seems an empty void. But, dear parents, look up; the Lord is there. He is full of mercy, our only help in time of trouble. "The Lord gave; the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." Let us try to be reconciled to His holy will. We deeply sympathize with you, but our arms are too short to reach you. May the Lord bless you is my unworthy prayer. Her little body was carried to Macedonia and after comforting words spoken by Rev. W. W. Lankford, was laid to rest there to await the glorious resurrection.

- One who loved her, Mrs. T. F. Smith
