Clarence D. Osborn son of Frank and Mary Osborn, was born at Davis City, Iowa, Decatur County on August 1, 1880. He passed away at Medford, Oregon on September 10, 1951, at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 10 days. His death was due to a stroke as the result of two years of lingering illness.
Mr. Osborn completed his elementary and high schooling in the Davis City schools. He spent the early part of his life engaged in various trades and business concerns. In 1923 he migrated with his family to Jackson County in South Dakota where he has made his home since and was engaged in farming and ranching all the time.
He served one term as county auditor in Decatur County.
He was united in marriage to Nora Collins of Lamoni, Iowa on Thanksgiving Day, 1897. Six children were born to this union.
He is survived by his wife Nora of Medford, Oregon; five sons, Wilbur and Wilder of Belvidere, Walter, of Sheridan, Wyoming; Wallace, of Detroit, Michigan and Wayne of Medford, Washington; one daughter, Mrs. E. H. Matteson, of Benton City, Washington, eleven grand-children; five great grandchildren and a brother, H. L. Osborn of Davis City, Iowa. Also other relatives and friends who mourn his passing. A brother, Walter Osborn of Leon, Iowa preceded him in death in 1949, and a sister, Clara Etta in 1895.
Funeral services were held in the. Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Condon H. Terry officiating.
John Barrett, Allen Smith, Oliver Rooks, Art Johnson, Herman Winne and Harry Girswold acted as pallbearers and he was laid to rest in the Belvidere cemetery.
