On the same farm on which he has resided since his marriage fifty-two years ago, C. Y. Wyant, one of Washington Township’s best known citizens, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 24, 1910, at one o'clock after a brief illness. Deceased was aged 77 years. He was born in Washington Township being a son of the late Adam Wyant and spent his whole life in that community. In 1858 he was united in marriage with Elizabeth John, and they went to house-keeping on the land on which they continued to live. Two years ago in July with their children and friends they celebrated their Golden Wedding on the old farm. Few men ever became closer identified with the community in which they reside than did Mr. Wyant. He always took an active interest in public affairs but never sought prominence for himself. He was rather a "home man" and much preferred to remain quietly with his wife and family. The following children survived: Mrs. Mary Phillips, of Butler; Mrs. Rose Kramer, of Oil City; Dr. Florence Bell Wyant, of Sharon; Dr. A. R. E. Wyant, of Chicago; Dr. W. W. Wyant, of South Sharon; A. M. Wyant, Esp., of Greensburg. The deceased had been ill only since last Friday, when he suffered a stroke of paralysis. The funeral services will be held at the Montgomeryville Baptist church, Saturday afternoon, at two o'clock, and will be conducted by Rev. A. B. Bowser, of Crafton. He is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Martin Wyant, of Erie; Archie and Dr. J. B. F. Wyant, of Wickboro; E. T. Wyant, of Steubenville, Ohio; B. W. Wyant, of Washington township; Mrs. Harvey Frick, of Erie; Mrs. Margaret Kramer, of Oil City; Mrs. Thomas Jack and Mrs. Frank Wolf, of Washington township; Mrs. Kate Kramer, of Irwin; and Mrs. William Monross, at home.
