Funeral services for the Rev. R. E. L. Bearden of Leachville, retired pioneer Methodist minister, who died yesterday, will be conducted at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Methodist Church in Leachville. The Rites will be by the Rev. C. C. Burton, pastor of the Leachville Church, assisted by the Rev. E. B. Williams, superintendent of the Jonesboro District of the Methodist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery here in Blytheville in charge of the Howard Funeral Home of Leachville. (Actually buried in Maple Grove Cemetery.)
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews of the deceased. They are State Senator J. Lee Bearden of Leachville, Lieutenant Governor Nathan Gordon and Edward Gordon Jr., both of Morrilton, Guy H. Edwards of Jonesboro, John Bearden Jr. and J. W. Clark, both of Leachville.
The Rev. Mr. Bearden was 77 and devoted 42 years to the ministry before his retirement in 1940. Since then he had made his home in Leachville.
Married Mary Frances "Fannie" Davis on May 3, 1891, Baxter Co, AR.
