Mrs. Catharine Baker, wife of I. L. Baker, residing near Baldwin, died November 20th in Los Angeles, California. The remains arrived in the city this morning, and were taken to Baldwin where they will be interred. Mr. and Mrs. Baker were among the earliest settlers in Douglas County. They selected a pleasant home about two miles west of Baldwin where they lived very happily. A little over a year ago Mrs. Baker's health began to fail and they at once went to California in hopes that the change of climate would prove beneficial. Notwithstanding the skill of her physicians she gradually failed until at last the summons of death came. The deceased was a member of the Methodist church at Baldwin, and a sincere and consistant Christian. The grief stricken husband accompanied the remains.
