Lehman L. Alderson, Sr., 71, 2820 Michigan Ave., died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday, December 26, 1991, at a local nursing home after a long illness.

Mr. Alderson was born Jan. 22, 1920, at Viola, Fulton Co., Arkansas. He was a graduate of Viola High School. He had lived in Joplin since 1952. He retired in 1981 after 14 years of employment with the U.S. Postal Service in Joplin. He served 25 years in the Air Force, retiring May 1, 1967, as a master sargeant. He served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the First Christian Church and Masonic Lodge No. 549, AF&AM, both of Carl Junction, and the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Joplin. He was a past worthy patron of Faith Chapter No. 334, Order of the Eastern Star, Carl Junction.

He married Dorothy Noland Yeakey on June 3, 1953, in Joplin. She survives. His parents Johnnie and Susan Alderson have proceeded him in death.

Additional survivors include two sons, Mike Alderson, Topeka, KS, and Lehman L. Alderson Jr., stationed with the Air Force at Whiteman Air Force Base, Knob Noster; two daughters, Sharon Jacobs, Joplin, and Nancy Hoffman Hillsborough, CA; two sisters, Iva Grogan, Cabool, and Alice Roper, Salem, AR; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 30, 1991, at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jim Cantrell, a nephew, will give the eulogy. Air Force Chaplain Gordon Snyder will officiate.

Full graveside military services will be conducted by personnel from Whiteman Air Force Base, Knob Noster.

Masonic services, conducted by members of Carl Junction Lodge No. 549, AF&AM, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Parker Mortuary. The family will receive friends after the Masonic services.

Mr. Alderson was a member of Joplin Elks Lodge No. 501.
