ERNEST ASHBY

Ernest L. Ashby, 70, of 820 Nichol Ave., a retired employe of Delco-Remy Division, died Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at Community Hospital shortly after admittance there. He had been ill for some time.

A native of Anderson, Mr. Ashby had spent his life in this city. He was born Nov. 25, 1894, to Walter and Ann Ashby, and was a member of the Jackson Park Church of God.

Surviving are the widow, Maude M. Ashby; four children, Mrs. Preston (Dorothy) Skinner and Mrs. John (Mary Jane) Gray, both of Anderson, Mrs. Wallace (Bessie) Erman of Alexandria; and Kenneth Ashby of Rogers City, Mich.; a brother, Conrad Ashby, and a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Evelyn) Crouse, both of Anderson; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Brown and Butz Funeral Home where friends will be received after 2 p.m. today. Funeral rites will be conducted there at the mortuary at 10 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. George Skinner and the Rev. Glenn Skinner of the Jackson Park Church of God. Interment will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
