Biography: Bessie had worked at Delco-Remy, formerly of Anderson until deciding to become a full time homemaker. She served as Alexandria's Welcome Wagon Hostess from 1974 to 1981 welcoming new families and babies to the community. She has been a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of Our Blessed Savior in Alexandria. At the church she taught Sunday School for 22 years and also served as the first Deaconess of the church. She was a member of the Alexandria East Side Home Extension Club. She will be remembered for her great fondness of all animals with a special place in her heart and life for "her birds." The care and loving nurture she gave to her family returned to Bessie much joy and contentment.
