Peter Tower performed military service during the Revolution despite being more than 45 years old. He was in Capt. Pyam Cushing's company, guarding the shores while the British ships were lying at the outer harbor of Boston subsequent to its evacuation in March 1776. He served in 2 other companies doing guard duty. Near the end of the Revolution, Peter and several other family members moved from Hingham to Cummington.
