OBITUARY :
RICHARD M. "DICK" FOX, 83, of 6411 Brown's Quarry Road, Sabillasville, Md., went to be with his Lord at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at his home.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1926, in Sabillasville. He was the son of the late Wilbur M. and Myrtle M. (Brown) Fox. He was a lifelong resident of the Sabillasville area.

Mr. Fox graduated from Thurmont High School with the Class of 1943.

He served with the United States Marine Corp during peacetime.

He and his late wife, Mrs. Geraldine A. (Stottlemyer) Fox, were married on Oct. 27, 1947, in Cascade, Md. They moved to the present residence in 1991. Mrs. Fox died March 10, 2008.

Mr. Fox was a machinist at Landis Tool Co. in Waynesboro from 1953 until retiring in October 1988.

Dick was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Sabillasville, where he served in numerous positions. He also was a member of Mt. Quirack Rod and Gun Club in Sabillasville, NRA, "National Rifle Association," and the national AARP.

Mr. Fox enjoyed working and hunting.

He is survived by two daughters, Debra L. Eckstine and husband Richard E. Sr. of Waynesboro and Cathy F. Wiles and husband Bryan G. of Smithsburg, Md.; one grandson, Bradley A. Eckstine of Waynesboro; three brothers, W. Chester Fox of Towson, Md., Robert F. Fox of Greencastle, Pa., and George P. Fox of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Merle U. Fox, Paul M. Fox, Glen L. Fox, W. Lester Fox and K. Lee Fox.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Janet Comings officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade, Md.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Hospice of Washington County Inc., 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21742 or St. John's United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 137, Sabillasville, Md. 21780.
