Mrs. Shepherd Died Last Saturday
Julian Frances Harris was born in Darlington, Mo., November 8, 1873 and passed away in Pawnee City December 11, 1937, at the age of 64 years, 1 month and 3 days. For more than a year she had been in failing health and four months ago required hospital care.
Services were held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon, Tev. J. A. Runnels officiating. Interment was at the Table Rock cemetery. Eight nephews were the pallbearers.
Mrs. Shepherd was married in Gentry county, MO., January 27, 1896 to W. G. Shepherd who survives. They had eight children of which two died, Opal Irene, 6, and Calvin Mirl, 19. Children surviving are Mrs. Lulu Beebe, Leavenworth, Kansas, Mrs. Sylvia Alderman, Pawnee City, Mrs. Ruby McAlpine, Culver, Oregon, Marvin Shepherd, Oxford, Mrs. Cleo Epley, Elk Creek, and Roy Shepherd of Table Rock. There are 12 grandchildren.
In 1898 the Shepherds ca,e to Pawnee county and have lived here since. When young, Mrs. Shepherd joined the Baptist church but coming to Table Rock where there was no Baptist church, she joined the Methodist church in order to be in Christ's work and remained so until she left to join the church triumphant.
Six brothers and sisters of Mrs. Shepherd who survive are Mrs. Charles Stevicks, Lucas, S.D., John Harris, Pawnee City, Sylvester Harris, Mrs. W. Carter, both of Table Rock, Erve Harris, Denver, Colo., and Earl Harris, Blue Springs, Nebr.
Mrs. McAlpine and husband came from Oregon and since June has been most helpful in making Mrs. Shepherd's last days. The community is sad at her passing away.
