MRS. JOEL SCHAEFER, 85, DIES; SERVICES WEDNESDAY
Widow of Joel Schaefer, Mrs. Aldine E. Schaefer, 85, who formerly resided at 419 West Ohio St., died at 1:55 a.m. today at Meadowvale Care Center, where she had been a patient one year.
Born Nov. 15, 1898 in Wells county, she was a daughter of Orel and Elizabeth Kipfer Gilliom. Her marriage to Mr. Schaefer, who died Nov. 1, 1977, took place Aug. 4, 1946 in Bluffton.
Mrs. Schaefer, a member of the Apostolic Christian church, was raised by her stepmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Gerber Gilliom.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Bill (Mildred) Baumgartner of Decatur, Mrs. Charles (Rosella) Fravel of Geneva and Mrs. Mary Jane Fosnaugh of Decatur; three sons, Donald Schaefer of Bellflower, Calif., Glen E. Schaefer of La Merida, Calif., and Rev. Gerald W. Schaefer of Corsicana, Texas, 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Five sisters, Mrs. Duella Gilliom, Mrs. Roy (Lucy) Haab, Miss Nora Gilliom, and Mrs. Roger (Violet) Isch, all of Bluffton, and Mrs. Sterling (Elva) Blocker of Bluffton Route 3, and three brothers, Louis "Bob" Gilliom and William "Bill" Gilliom, both of Bluffton, and Bruce Gilliom of Swiss Village, Berne, also survive.
Calling will be after 7 p.m. today at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel.
The body will be taken at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to the Bluffton North Apostolic Christian Church for services at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Phillip Steltner and Rev. Jim Rinkenberger will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
