He married Kathryn Lacey at St. John's Rectory in Des Moines on July 19, 1922, and his best man was his brother John Shuey. From this union 2 sons and 2 daughters were born; Francis Thomas Shuey 15 Apr 1923, Philip Charles Shuey 01 Aug 1928, Joanne Catherine Shuey 18 Oct 1924 and Audrey P Shuey 05 Apr 1927.
