Irwin J. Correll, 87, of Pleasant Plains died on Saturday, July 24, 2010, at St. John's Hospital.
Irwin was born on March 13, 1923, in Mt. Vernon, IL, the son of Pearl Thomas and Nettie May Austin Correll. He married Ruby Grant on September 16, 1944, in Pleasant Plains.
Mr. Correll worked for Pleasant Plains School District for 8 years. He worked for 20+ years on home construction and was the sexton for Pleasant Plains Cemetery for 18 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, one brother-in-law and one son-in-law.
He is survived by wife, Ruby Correll of Pleasant Plains; two daughters, Patricia Correll-Beemer of Pleasant Plains, Wanda (Larry) Klespitz of San Francisco, CA; one son, Kenneth "Pete" (Cindy) Correll of Athens; one brother, Jarrell (Jean) Correll of Pleasant Plains; one sister, Pearllene Beagles of Buchanan, TN; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home, 530 N. 5th St. Springfield. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at Ellinger-Kunz and Park Funeral Home, with Reverend Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery.
