PLEASANT PLAINS, IL - Jarrell "Curly" W. Correll Sr., 82 of Pleasant Plains, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, at St. John's Hospital.
He was born Jan. 24, 1932, in Mt. Vernon, Ill., the fifth child of Pearl T. and Nettle M. Correll.
He married Cora Jean Dugger on Oct. 22, 1958, in Springfield, Ill.
Jarrell started working in his teens as a delivery boy, then butcher for John Lehmann & Son's Grocers, that was located in the now historic brick building on the corner of W. Main St. and S. Cartwright Rd., Pleasant Plains.
He also worked many years in construction and as an electrician for Mick Curry Construction and Reiser Construction, both in Pleasant Plans, and retired in 1994.
Jarrell was a member, elder and on the board of the Pleasant Plains Church of Christ.
He enjoyed studying his Bible, carpentry, working with his hands, camping and was a fan of NASCAR.
He would help anyone in need and could always be counted on to do things the best way possible.
He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jarrell was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by two daughters from a previous marriage.
He is also survived by two daughters and three sons from his present marriage; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Pleasant Plains Church of Christ, 217 E. Church Street, Pleasant Plains, IL with Pastor Bob Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pleasant Plains Cemetery in Pleasant Plains.
