Chatham, Va. - Aug. 31.
Mr. William Madison Barker died at his home near Weal, this county, Tuesday morning following an illness of lengthy duration.
He was born in Henry County more than seventy years ago, but the whole of his life was passed at the place of his death. He is survived by his wife and one brother, Hon. J. M. Barker, of Axton, Henry County, and a prominent member of the State Board of Agriculture.
Interment will be at the old home of the deceased in Henry County, Va. near Axton, Wednesday afternoon.

The newspaper dated Sat., Sept. 4th, p. 2, col. 2, added the following -
Axton, Va. - Sept. 3.
Mr. William Barker of near Chatham, was buried at the old burying ground near Axton, Wednesday last.
He is survived by a widow and several children; also by three brothers and two sisters: Mr. J. M. Barker of Axton; Mr. Floyd Miller Barker of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Mr. Doc Barker who lives in the West; Mrs. James Roach, near Axton and Miss Curdie Barker of near Boxwood, Va.
