Rites today for Alvin O. Blocker

Alvin O. Blocker, 81, of 1127 Patterson St., Decatur, a retired Central Soya Co. employee, died at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday at the Adams County Memorial hospital, where he had been hospitalized for the past 11 days.

Mr. Blocker, employed at the Soy from 1943 until his retirement in 1960, was a member of the Masonic Order in Kansas.

Born in Jay county on Nov. 16, 1892, he was the son of George and Dequestonie William-Blocker, and was married on April 11, 1914, to Viola May Hermann, who died Jan. 13, 1967.

Surviving are three children, Mrs. Richard (Bernice) Buckmaster of Muncie, Mrs. Charles W. (Betty) Chew of Decatur; Norris Blocker of Decatur; one sister, Mrs. John (Carrie) Blair of Petroleum; two brothers, Sterling Blocker of route 2, Bluffton; Russell Blocker of Marion; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. One son, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Zwick Funeral home, with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Simeon Schmitt officiating. Burial was in the M.R.E. cemetery, Berne.
