She retired in 1983 from CTS at Berne after 20 years. Mrs. Chew was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Decatur, Women’s Club Music Department, Rebecca Circle of the church, Chorale Society Mennonite Church at Berne and First United Methodist Church Choir for many years.
She was born in El Dorado County, Kansas, Dec. 8, 1921 to Alvin Orion and Viola May Hermann Blocker. Her first marriage at Geneva on June 9, 1940 was to Robert Milo Miller, who was killed March 19, 1945 during World War II service; a second marriage at Decatur on Aug. 6, 1950 was to Charles William Chew, who died Nov. 29, 1979.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. James (Jacqueline Miller) Blake of Largo and Carla Mattingly of Decatur; a brother, Norris G. Blocker of Decatur; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A brother and a sister are deceased.
Services at 3:30 p.m. Sunday will be at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Rev. Jacqueline Foley officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery at Geneva. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Saturday from 2 to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 12 noon until time for services. Memorials to First United Methodist Church at Decatur.
