He was a native of Orange county, VA, born in 1758. He served in the Revolutionary War from that state and received a pension for his service. While a resident of Virginia he is said to have held eighteen slaves. After the war he removed to Madison county, and was living in 1840, aged 82. He lived with W. L. Harrison.
